“Can’t you just jet wash it?” is one of the questions we’re asked most. Sometimes the answer is yes. For many surfaces, though, high pressure does more harm than good, and softwashing is the safer and longer-lasting option.
What is pressure washing?
Pressure washing uses a high-pressure jet of water to blast away dirt, moss and grime. It’s ideal for hard, durable surfaces such as block paving, natural stone patios, concrete driveways and brickwork, where we can match the pressure and nozzle to the surface.
What is softwashing?
Softwashing uses low pressure combined with professional biocides such as AlgoClear Pro and BioClear Pro 50. Instead of blasting growth off, the treatment kills algae, mould, lichen and black spots at the root, then the surface is rinsed or left to weather clean.
Which surfaces need softwashing?
- Render, K-render and painted masonry
- Soffits, fascias and UPVC
- Cladding and prefabricated concrete panels
- Roof tiles and other surfaces that high pressure could damage
Why softwashing lasts longer
Pressure alone removes what you can see but often leaves spores behind, so green growth returns within months. Because softwashing kills growth at the root, results last much longer, and staining continues to fade in the days after treatment.
The best of both
Most properties need a mix. A typical job might be softwashing the render and fascias, then pressure washing and re-sanding the driveway, finished with Resiblock surface sealing to keep it looking good for longer.
